2019 saw the formation of a partnership between Material Exchange and Zilingo with a shared goal to create transformational change within the industry and promote new levels of much needed sustainability and transparency within fashion supply chains.
Zilingo is a technology platform that powers the entire fashion supply chain. It was founded in 2015 by Ankiti Bose and Dhruv Kapoor with a vision to use technology to put responsible and efficient business within everyone’s reach. The fashion industry is dominated by a select few – favoring only those with social, human and financial capital. At Zilingo, we believe the future of fashion belongs to everyone. By using smart, technology-led solutions to bridge the gap between creators and producers, we’ve reimagined the fashion supply chain to make it fair, connected and transparent for all.
The aim of the partnership is to enable brands to better connect to their suppliers with the help from the Material Exchange digital material library and the Zilingo commerce platform. Brands are now able to view over 350 digital materials, and connect with over 15 suppliers.
During these remote working times, brands need a solution to view their materials in a digital way, as traditional physical methods have been affected. The Material Exchange Digital Material Library can help brands to connect with material suppliers and search, select and download digital samples for the product creation process. This further supports our goal to reduce the industry’s carbon emissions and environmental impact, the platform limits the need to travel to meet clients and send physical materials samples around the world.
Over the coming months the partnership will continue to develop and encourage more material suppliers to use digital samples as a way of connecting to their brand customers.
