American Events & Material Exchange Hold FIRST EVER Digital Material Show, July 15th to August 15th, to Meet Industry Needs During COVID-19

May 28, 2020

Sweden – May 28, 2020. American Events in Portland, OR, USA — founders of The Materials Show, have partnered with Material Exchange Ventures AB, a Stockholm-based Fashion Technology Company and provider of the Material Exchange, to bring an innovative new digital show to footwear and apparel.

In the wake of COVID-19, many industry events, including The Materials Show, have been postponed. A key event in the sourcing calendar for both brands and material suppliers, The Materials Show is traditionally held in February and July over a 2-week period and brings together brands and material suppliers to discover materials and place orders for the upcoming season.

“It was with a heavy heart that we had to cancel The Materials Show. We worked hard all year to provide the best show, and to cancel at the last minute was heart-breaking. We are delighted to bring to the industry The Digital Materials Show. This is an exciting new chapter in The Materials Show future, we are proud to be doing this alongside our partner, Material Exchange,” said Hisham Muhareb, CEO, American Events.

By featuring rapid product visualization, industry-leading discussions, networking, and a few ‘digital surprises,’ American Events and Material Exchange plan to deliver the most immersive virtual show of the year. The new show will feature a Digital Material Showcase from July 15th – August 15th. The showcase enables material suppliers to present digital twins of their products to brands via an online portal. Brands can search, view and enquire about materials. Communication takes place through built-in video conferencing to support discussion and the co-development of materials. A 3D rendering tool allows brands to pull down digital materials and present them on footwear, apparel and luggage.

The show will also feature interactive live webinars from industry executives, as well as a 3-day networking event held from July 21st – July 23rd. Daily networking sessions for all visitors and exhibitors will promote interaction and discussion between brands and materials suppliers.

“The concept of bringing a Digital Show to life is something we have been developing for a long time. The Material Exchange platform is highly capable of supporting these events, we hope that the show will provide a means to allow the industry to still operate and share materials during these times of limited travel. We are thrilled to be hosting the show with our partner, American Events,” said Darren Glenister, CEO, Material Exchange.
