Sweden, September 15, 2020. Material Exchange Ventures AB, a Stockholm based start-up and provider of the Material Exchange – the world’s leading digital material platform – is proud to be working in association with HuginBiz and Tex! By MarketPlace Borås to take the NEXT TEXTILE Event digital, to improve sustainability within fashion.
NEXT TEXTILE is a competence platform for the textile and fashion industry in Sweden. Their purpose is to enable greater business opportunities for Swedish fashion, textiles and design. They do this by creating meeting points where members can learn from and share experiences and knowledge with industry peers.
This year in co-operation with Material Exchange under the theme “Future Textile & Fashion Consumption”. The event is focused on assisting a sustainable textile industry and changing the views and behaviours of consumers. Material Exchange will introduce sustainability by digital material sourcing with integrated digital product design and creation processes.
The event will be supported by Zilingo, a technology platform powering the global supply chain that enables trading of raw materials, fabrics and finished goods. Zilingo is a key partner of Material Exchange and both have worked together towards a shared goal of improving transparency and sustainability within fashion supply chains. Zilingo is encouraging sustainable suppliers to join the event thereby enabling these suppliers to build and manage relationships with brands looking for sustainable materials.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Material Exchange for such an important sustainability event. Through this collaboration, we hope to change attitudes towards supply chain sustainability and help engage more suppliers with brands in a digital way,” said Indi Davis, Head of Program, Strategy at Zilingo.
The event will open with the NEXT TEXTILE conference on October 22nd 2020 featuring international keynote speakers, virtual seminars and interactive workshops. This year the event will continue from October 22nd with an exclusive two-week Sourcing & Inspiration Material Showcase until November 6th, featuring the most innovative materials from some of the largest sustainably accredited material suppliers in the world. Brands, designers and product creation teams can digitally and remotely search through thousands of material samples to gain inspiration for future products, without the need for physical material meetings, further supporting NEXT TEXTILE’S work towards a more sustainable and responsible industry.
The show doesn’t stop there… The third and final week will feature an industry first; a Digital Fashion Week from November 2nd – 6th. Designers from the Swedish fashion industry as well as fashion design students will have the opportunity to create and showcase their 3D designs to brands and retailers using the sustainable materials featured in the Material Showcase. Designers can scour the entire Material Exchange Digital Library of 31,000+ samples to find the right materials for their designs, then download these 2D and 3D digital-twins to create inspired virtual products for the fashion week.
“To be part of NEXT TEXTILE and helping bring a digital show together that truly focuses on sustainability is an amazing thing to be part of, especially from Material Exchange Ventures’ native country. We have always stood true to our heritage and roots with regards to transforming the behaviours of brands and retailers, and to be part of an event that shares the same goal is excellent not only for Material Exchange but for the industry, we can all work together to make our industry more sustainable for the future,” said Darren Glenister, CEO, Material Exchange.
