Frank reveals the hottest denim trends of 2025 (and where to source the fabrics)
First created in the 1870s as durable workwear. A trademark of rebellion in the 1960s. A staple of most wardrobes on Earth today. There’s only one piece of apparel that fits the bill: it’s denim, of course. But denim isn’t just a fabric – it’s a lifestyle, a mindset, a means of expression. And it’s available in styles beyond your expectations (at least the expectations you probably have for a pair of pants). Read on for a look at just what consumer denim trends are cropping up this season – and where to get your hands on the fabrics to create these different styles of jeans.
Distressed denim

That is, denim that’s been ripped or manipulated in some way for more of a vintage, worn look. This can range from just a few ripped spots to entire lines of horizontal rips up and down the legs. Whatever the preference, this easy, laid-back style is strutting across fashion show runways globally and is being picked up by quite a few retailers as well. Frank especially appreciates the distressed look for the airing out it provides – it can get toasty with all that fur under denim.
An asymmetric waist band
Quite a surprise, this one, as waist bands are generally assumed to be straight across, but asymmetric options are popping up and Frank is still figuring out what to make of it. U-shapes are certainly a thing (the waist band dips under the belly button) as are crossovers where the top button is on the side. For less of a statement, high-rise waist bands are also in fashion right now, facilitating a clean, tucked-in look and maximum comfort. Take your pick.

A moment for jorts
Short for jean shorts, these warm-weather favorites are making a comeback. Frank has yet to don a pair himself, but we’re seeing them all over fashion shows, most often of the long variation. Easy, breezy, and versatile for all – there’s no way to go wrong with jorts in the summertime.

Dark shades of denim
While we are seeing some moments of light washed-down denim, the biggest trends today are dark wash denims: black, deep indigo, charcoal, and the like. Luckily, these dark options can be dressed up for formal occasions or made more casual. Dapper Frank usually goes for the former, but whatever strikes your fancy, whether your consumers want to bring focus to unique silhouettes or are looking to hide workwear stains.

Make it (extra) wide
Baggy, wide-legged jeans haven’t seen a heyday like this since the ’90s, so it’s time to pull out those old designs and get to work. The wider, the better – often with a belt for just the right balance. Or, for those who steer clear of the extreme, a moderate wide-legged option also works. Whatever strikes your fancy and gives those legs some air.

These current jean styles offer a unique range of options for denim lines, moderated to just your brand’s niche. Wondering where to find fabrics best-suited to these styles and more?
